iXperanto a new name to remember. iXperanto is a new way to look at video conference. In co-production with Dekom, Villa ProCtrl created new furniture for video conference. Bjørn Heister Dekom Nedeland about the new iXperanto: The best codec deserves the best pedestal. That is why I created the iXperanto video conferencing pedestal.
There is a long history of painful projects with ugly pedestal and camera stands behind this. When delivering top notch technology, I see many times people finishing it off with the most horrendous television stands, hospital carts and no longer used train wagons, holding displays together with mismatching camera shelves and codec ti-wrapped to painted iron poles. When placing a display in a room, the space is gone. We might as well fill it up with useful elements and add some design to it.
That’s why I created a rounded body, with edges that corner to the center, forcing your eyes to watch the system at all times. I thought of a camera location under the screen, at the exact height of our eyes when seated down. The camera location has its rounded corners, allowing exactly enough space to pan and tilt the cam10x into every convenient direction. Just on top, a 46″ NEC display with ultra narrow bezel complements the viewing experience. The edges of the display are 2 inches away of the side of the pedestal and in combination with the 1″ thickness of the display, this literally brings your far end to your meeting instead of residing somewhere far away.
The material is Corian (Dupont), which is a heavy material, resembling counter toppings at McDonald’s. The entire pedestal looks like made of one single ivory design, without any visible mounting lines. Scratches and stains can be sandpapered away to re-look new throughout its entire lifetime.
Pioneer speakers provide conference sound through a Class D amplifier. All technology and cabling is hidden in the body of the pedestal. At the center bottom of the pedestal, three outlets provide DVI input for presentations, RJ-45 to connect the LS Phone 2nd Gen, and an audio 3.5 mm jack to support audio during presentations.
